Fertilizers are one of the most important tools for the development of agriculture in support of food security and to maintain the productivity of soil. Any natural or chemically produced material, which contains at least 5% of one or more of three primary nutrients (N, P2O5, K2O), can be called a fertilizer.

Mineral fertilizers are chemical products.

Appearance (size and shape) of mineral fertilizers is very diverse depending on the production process: granules, pellets, “pearl”, rhinestones, compacted or fine dust. Most fertilizers are available in solid form, but the proportion of liquid fertilizers is increasing. Besides nutrition physical properties of fertilizers is determined by the size, hardness, resistance to moisture and physical damage, solubility, high quality fertilizers have a special surface treatment / coating prevents fray product.

Types of fertilizers

Fertilizers containing only one primary nutrient called simple (single component) and those that contain two or three primary nutrients are complex (multicomponent). Sophisticated for its part is divided into a mixture (blend / compacted) or complex (product of chemical synthesis).
